As per BBC Sport, Chelsea will have to pay a fee of up to £2.5m for Ethan Ampadu a FA tribunal has ruled.

The Blues signed the impressive teenager from the West Country club at the start of this season and he has made a handful of appearances in mainly lower profile games for the Blues this year.

You cannot argue that the youngster doesn't have talent, though, with Wales also calling him up to their senior squad earlier on in the campaign.

The Grecians, then, would have hoped for a bigger fee given the progression he has already made and where he might be heading but the tribunal has ruled that a maximum of £2.5m will be paid with add-ons as part of that.

The Verdict

As he was signed as a youth player from Exeter, the transfer fee had to be agreed by a FA tribunal rather than between the two clubs.

With that said, then, the League Two side should feel perhaps a bit unhappy with the figure given the work they put in with the midfielder and the progression he is making.

That is the ruling, though, and the Grecians, unfortunately for them, can't really do much about it.
