The January transfer window, without wanting to wish time - and Christmas - away, is firmly on the footballing horizon.

Just behind the festivities and mountain of football games that await in the coming weeks, it's there lurking and the rumour mill is starting to go through the gears.

And, that said, it could be a cause of anxiety for Leeds United fans once it does open because the top clubs in the country appear to be forming an orderly queue at their door for Jack Clarke.

The dynamic winger has shot to prominence this season by getting on the pitch out-wide and immediately looking to roast the nearest full-back with his pace and trickery.

Still a teenager, he looks a top asset for the future and according to the Mirror's live blog today (07:03,) Chelsea are now in the hunt alongside Manchester City.

The Verdict

Without doubt, Clarke is a good young player with the world at his feet but it seems too early to suggest that he is definitely going to make it as a Premier League player.

For sure, he has the potential but to realise that you need experience and minutes at this point in your career.

Going to Chelsea - or City for that matter - will surely decrease such opportunity and so it might be in Clarke's best interests to stay at Leeds United for now.
