Chelsea plotting move for impressive Football League defender

Millwall defender Christian Mbulu has been linked with a move to current Premier League Champions Chelsea, according to the Sun via West London Sport.

After signing from Brentwood Town of the Isthmian Premier League, the defender has been excellent for Millwall this season and has helped them to fifth place in Sky Bet League One, just six points off the automatic promotion zone.

The youngster has been compared to Chris Smalling, and it is believed that Mbulu will feature for Chelsea’s youth setup if he was to sign for the Blues.

Mbulu is the latest player that Chelsea are trying to bring in to help give their side a younger look, as they have been criticised in the past for not giving younger players an opportunity to make their case.

However, since the departure of Jose Mourinho and the appointment of Guus Hiddink on a permanent basis, more players have found their way into the fold, such as Kenedy and Bertrand Traore.
