Trabzonspor are interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher on loan for next season, according to Turkish newspaper Karar.

The young midfielder has enjoyed a magnificent campaign out on loan in the EFL, and is likely to be a player in demand heading into the 2020/21 campaign.

The 20-year-old was sent out on loan to Charlton Athletic in the summer, scoring six goals and chipping in with four assists from the heart of midfield for the relegation-threatened Addicks.

Have Swansea City done these 15 things in the last 10 years?

After standing out at the Valley, Chelsea recalled Gallagher in the January transfer window and sent him out on loan to play-off chasing Swansea City, in order to further his development.

Gallagher hit the ground running at the Liberty Stadium, too, registering five assists for the Swans before the EFL campaign was brought to a halt in March.

It remains to be seen whether Frank Lampard hands Gallagher a chance in Chelsea's first-team next term, and the player will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham after spending time out on loan.

Now, reports from Turkey claim that Turkish Champions Trabzonspor are interested in taking Gallagher on loan next season, with former Chelsea coach now assistant manager of Trabzonspor and having a close relationship with the player.

Trabzonspor reportedly plan to hold talks with the London club in the near future, with a potential move abroad now on the cards for Gallagher.

The Verdict

Gallagher has been a roaring success for Swansea and Charlton and has shown signs that he can break into the first-team sooner rather than later.

I definitely think he needs another loan move away, though. The likes of Mount and Abraham had endured a few loan spells to help shape them as players before breaking into the Chelsea team.

A move abroad and a change in culture could be a great decision for him.
