Brentford are hoping to sign Chelsea youngster Jay Dasilva who is set to leave the Premier League side on loan this summer.

The 20-year old, who plays as a left-back, spent part of last season on loan to Charlton and he is expected to continue his development with another spell away from Stamford Bridge.

Recent reports suggested that Frank Lampard was hoping to use his Chelsea connections to bring the England youngster to Derby County.

However, West London Sport have revealed that Brentford are interested in the left-back as they look for competition for Rico Henry.

Henry missed the majority of last season after suffering a knee injury in September so Dean Smith will be desperate to bring in someone to compete with him by August.

Wherever Dasilva ends up, he will arrive with a lot of confidence after a successful summer with the England U21 side in the Toulon Tournament.

He played an important part as a wing-back as the English side won the competition with a 2-1 win over Mexico last week.

The Verdict

Chelsea have produced many fantastic young players over the years and Dasilva is one of the latest.

Whether he will get a chance at Stamford Bridge remains to be seen but it's clear he will go on loan next season to the Championship.

Dasilva boasts great pace, is a modern full-back and would suit Brentford's style. They will hope to see off the competition for his signature as he would be a very smart signing.
