Chelsea player makes Hull City transfer admission

Chelsea loanee Nathan Baxter has admitted to Hull Live that he wouldn’t rule out making a permanent move to Hull City in the future.

The keeper is currently on loan at the MKM Stadium from the Blues and has excelled under the management of Grant McCann so far, keeping three clean sheets recently as he showed his quality.

Baxter is still under contract with Chelsea until the summer of 2023, however that hasn’t stopped the Hull City faithful from expressing their wish for the 23-year-old to commit his long term future to the Tigers.

Now Baxter has opened up on the prospect of potentially signing for the East Riding of Yorkshire outfit, as he stated the following recently:

“If and when that decision is made, obviously it’s something that I’m open to but with football, it’s just a case of taking it game by game.”

Quiz: 30 questions about Hull City’s best strikers from the last 5 years – Can you score 30/30?

1) How many goals did Malik Wilks bag last season in the league?

Baxter is now into his seventh loan spell away from his parent club and is showing excellent signs of improvement in the Sky Bet Championship.

This is the highest level that the keeper has played at to date after taking in spells with the likes of Accrington Stanley, Woking and Met Police earlier in his career.

The Verdict

Signing Baxter would be no easy task for Hull and it would all depend on the plans that Chelsea have for the player moving forwards.

At the age of 23 he is still very young for a player in his position and could well be seen as someone that the Blues want to keep around in order to develop him further.

Add to the fact that he still has a few years left to run on his contract at Stamford Bridge, and it would be fair to assume that the Premier League side would be keen on loaning him out again.

As Baxter quite rightly says, he just wants to take things game by game but surely the potential for a permanent move is sitting in the back of his mind after becoming a real favourite with the fans.
