EFL talent spotting is becoming increasingly important for England’s elite, with the Football League producing some gems in recent seasons.

Currently, Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are all battling it out for a move for Middlesbrough’s Isaiah Jones, as per a report from 90min.com.

The 22-year-old, who featured 42 times in the league last season in the absence of Djed Spence, netted once and provided a further nine assists, proving to be a real attacking threat from his right-wing-back position.

Also improving defensively as the season wore on, Jones emerged as an integral part of Boro’s season, impressing under Neil Warnock whilst hitting new heights under Chris Wilder.

Facing uncertainty in regards to some of their more integral first teasers, Marcus Tavernier is another player attracting lots of attention, with Bournemouth reportedly reading a £10 million bid.

The verdict

It is no shock to see interest surfacing in the young defender, after what was an excellent campaign for the 22-year-old.

Looking a level above for the majority of the campaign, Premier League interest is certainly justified, especially when considering how high his ceiling actually is.

It is unknown how the young defender would fare up as part of a back four, however, as a wing-back, he possesses all the necessary attributes to thrive.

A player with blistering pace, and excellent dribbling ability, Jones’ jinking runs became a common theme of the 2021/22 season at Boro.

Middlesbrough will be hoping that Jones remains at the Riverside Stadium beyond this season, however, their resolve could be tested.
