The Chelsea academy system is dense and populated, and it requires a youngster of serious talent to fight their way through the crowd and emerge as a professional football player at the highest level.

Defender Fankaty Dabo is one such young star to emerge unscathed, and the London-born man was shipped on loan to League One and Swindon Town to help the Robins beat the drop.

Despite making 15 appearances and scoring once for his adopted side, Swindon dropped into League Two, but young Dabo made a great impression during his spell in Wiltshire.

Another League One loan may beckon, and a full season in the division would do the 21-year-old the world of good.

Bristol Rovers are in need of defensive reinforcements having shipped an eye-watering 70 goals in 46 league games last season, a record that ultimately cost them a Play-Off spot.

Bringing Dabo into the back four would add a new air of solidity to the back line, and if the Gas can continue their impressive form going forward and increase the defensive capabilities, then a Play-Off push like inevitable.

A fantastic move for both Dabo and Rovers, manager Darrell Clarke will strongly consider utilising the strong relationship between the clubs once again, after England U20 defender Jake Salter-Clarke spent time on loan at the Memorial Ground last season.
