According to the Sheffield Star, Jamal Blackman wants to leave Chelsea this summer and go back to Sheffield United once again for next season.

The Blades enjoyed a strong first campaign back in the Championship last year as they pushed for the play-offs right to the very end.

Unfortunately for them, though, they just missed out but that was no fault of Blackman's who did a good job in between the sticks.

He could, then, be set for another move to the club this summer with Chelsea having plenty of players on their fringes in the same position as Blackman.

Indeed, according to the report, there is a chance that other Blues players that are not needed could also head to South Yorkshire this summer.

And, with Chelsea far from in an organised state at the moment, you can see why such players would want to move on from the club for at least next season and try and get their careers going.

The Verdict

Blackman is a good stopper and wants to move so now it is up to Blades manager Chris Wilder to give it the green light.

At 24-years-old he is young for a goalkeeper and has plenty of years left, but it's also evident that he is well aware he needs to be playing regularly now.
