Sky Bet Championship side Swansea City are interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Kasey Palmer on loan, according to the Sky Sports live transfer blog (14/07, 13:23).
The 22-year-old is yet to make a first-team appearance for Chelsea, with another loan move looking to be in the offing for the midfielder this summer.
The playmaker was sent out on loan to Blackburn Rovers in the first half of last season, scoring three goals in a total of 17 appearances for Tony Mowbray’s side.
In the second half of the season, he was then shipped out on loan to Bristol City, where he made just two league starts for the Robins, scoring twice.
But now, it is claimed that Swansea City are interested in taking Palmer on loan from Chelsea, as Steve Cooper looks to further reshape his squad ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.
The Swans have made just the one signing this summer, bringing in defender Jake Bidwell on a free transfer from Queens Park Rangers, but a new, creative spark is likely to be on the Welsh club’s radar.
They lost Dan James to Manchester United earlier on this summer, and whilst they do not play in the same position, Swansea will be hoping that Palmer can contribute to plenty of goals if he did put pen to paper at the Liberty Stadium.
I think that Palmer definitely has a point to prove, and a move to the Liberty Stadium could be the perfect destination for him.
Thinking back to when he was out on loan with Huddersfield Town, he was fantastic for the Terriers in the Championship, and if he can replicate that form, then there is no reason why he can’t be a success with the Swans.
His time with Blackburn and Bristol City didn’t go as well as expected, but you would still expect him to be a regular starter for Cooper’s side if he were to sign.
They need a new creative player in their squad, and Palmer could be that man.
