Premier League giants Chelsea have made the first move in the race to sign young Bristol City striker Antoine Semenyo.

The 19-year-old has been impressing during a loan spell with Newport County, and according to the Daily Mail, Chelsea have made their move with a £1m offer for the youngster.

Semenyo, who is also attracting admiring glances from the likes of Man United, has banged in six goals during his time with Newport this term, but it is his overall performances which have been more catching than his goal record.

Those performances have turned into solid interest from some of the Premier League's big guns, and now it would appear Chelsea have made their move for the teenager as they look to add even further depth to their already deep pool of talented youngsters.

Semenyo will no doubt be faced with an interesting decision to make though, with the thought of playing under-23 football less appealing than learning his craft with the League Two outfit. However, the lure of signing for a club like Chelsea could prove too much, with opportunities like this not coming around all too often.

Despite the offer from the Blues, it is reported that the Robins are holding out for closer to £2m for their striker.

The Verdict

Semenyo will find it so so hard to turn down a move to Chelsea in all honesty, and i'd be surprised if he stays in Bristol now the wheels are in motion.

He's clearly a talent, but it would be a shame to see him gobbled up by the machine that is Chelsea.
