Taking part in an Instagram Q&A with snooker legend Stephen Hendry, Chelsea hero and now Aston Villa coach John Terry revealed that in his early playing days, Huddersfield Town made an offer to take him away from Stamford Bridge.
The central defender proved to be one of the great Premier League players during his time at Stamford Bridge, with him leading the club to 5 titles in the top flight.
Certainly, he’ll go down in history as one of Chelsea’s best ever players but it could have been so different had Steve Bruce had his way when in charge at Huddersfield Town all those years ago.
Terry revealed when asked, if he had the chance to leave Chelsea at points during his career:
“During my time the only two clubs that approached me were Huddersfield when I first came through. Steve Bruce was manager of Huddersfield,” whilst he also went on to discuss the Manchester City rumours later on in his career.
How different things could have been for both Huddersfield and Terry had this move potentially gone through.
In the end, the Chelsea hero will be pleased he stayed at the club given what he ended up winning, and will now look to be as successful as a coach.
