Premier League side Chelsea look set to sell their first choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, with Jack Butland a likely replacement at Stamford Bridge.

According to Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett via The Daily Star, new Blues boss Maurizio Sarri will look turn to the Potters number one as a replacement for the Belgian shot stopper.

In an interview on the Sky Sports Transfer Talk podcast, Dorsett said: “We think [Courtois will] go to Madrid and so because of that you’ve got Butland and Kasper Schmeichel who is on Chelsea’s list as well we’re told.

“So there’s a couple of possibilities here. Either Butland goes to Chelsea straight away, job solved or Schmeichel goes to Chelsea and I think Leicester would be very interested in Jack Butland."

Chelsea have also been linked with a move for Everton's Jordan Pickford - England’s first choice goalkeeper from this summer’s World Cup in Russia.

The Verdict

If Courtois does depart from Stamford Bridge like expected to this summer, a replacement of Butland is a strong one.

Chelsea fans will know his capabilities from watching him in the past few seasons at Stoke, as well as in the England side, and despite his relegation with the Potters, he does have undeniable talent.

The 25-year-old still has plenty of years ahead of him in his career, and could be Chelsea’s number one for many years to come.
