Bristol City are poised to complete the signing of Chelsea's Kasey Palmer, with the attacking midfielder set to join on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 22-year-old has been on loan at Blackburn this season but he has struggled to establish himself as a regular in Tony Mowbray's side. In total, Palmer has managed 14 league appearances for Rovers, scoring one goal.

Only ten of those were starts and it's clear that Chelsea are not happy with the agreement.

Therefore, the Premier League side are set to bring the youngster back and Sky Sports report that he will join the Robins, with a medical scheduled for today.

Providing the move goes ahead he will be Lee Johnson's first signing of the winter window and he will hope a move is finalised so he can play in Saturday's clash against Bolton.

Palmer will want to make a significant impact at Ashton Gate after a few mixed loan spells over the years.

He played an important role in helping Huddersfield to the Premier League and joined Derby County this time last season.

The Verdict

This is an exciting signing for Bristol City as there's no doubt that Palmer has a lot of ability and can be a star at this level.

However, it would be slightly concerning as to why he has struggled at Ewood Park and you'd have to say this is a big move for the 22-year-old who needs to start finding a consistency.

Now, it's down to Johnson to try and get the best out of him as he could be a big player for the Robins if he rediscovers his best form.
