Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are two teams considering a swoop for Adama Traore after Middlesbrough failed to win promotion via the play-offs, according to The Northern Echo.

Middlesbrough drew 0-0 at Villa Park last night, meaning that they lost the play-off semi-finals 1-0 on aggregate against Aston Villa.

And with Boro's place in the second tier confirmed next year, Chelsea and Tottenham are interested in their star man Traore.

The former Barcelona youth star has been one of the best players in the Championship this season, scoring five goals and racking up 10 assists for Tony Pulis' side from the wing.

Traore came to England in 2015, spending one season with Aston Villa before forcing a move to Premier League new boys Middlesbrough in a swap deal with Albert Adomah.

Despite struggling in the Premier League, the Spain under-21 international has thrived in the second tier this season and could earn his chance to go back to the top flight.

Spurs and Chelsea are two teams chasing his signature this summer but Boro are likely to hold out for a fee in excess of £30m, as they are under no pressure to sell with two seasons left to run on his current contract.

The Verdict

Traore has the full package and needs to make a Premier League move.

Not only does the youngster have blistering pace, dynamic athleticism, deceptive skill and unrivalled agility, but he has also added end product to his game this season.

He is only getting better and any Premier League team would thrive from having him as a squad option at the very least.
