Championship play-off chasers Bristol City could face a fight to keep hold of young forward Antoine Semenyo with both Chelsea and Manchester United interested in the youngster.

According to the Bristol Post, the Premier League giants are keeping tabs on the 19-year-old, who has been in fine form for Newport County this term in what is turning into a successful loan spell away from Ashton Gate.

Semenyo's blistering speed has seen him catch the eye on numerous occasions for the lower league outfit, and it will be interesting to see if Robins manager Lee Johnson recalls the forward before the end of the season to give him his chance in the Championship.

However, Johnson will be well aware that clubs are looking at their man, and Semenyo would no doubt be hard pushed to turn down a move to either of the top flight giants.

United and Chelsea have been casting their net wider in recent years and appear more willing than ever to delve into the lower leagues in England to snap up the best talent available, with Semenyo falling well into that category.

Any move for Semenyo is likely to cost a fair sum for both United and Chelsea, with the Robins no doubt keen to keep hold of their key youngster.

The Verdict

It's a hard one this, with Semenyo not playing for City but doing so well lower down the leagues.

He is a talent though, and any young player would be hard pushed to not want to sign for one of the top clubs if presented with the chance.

All City can do really is try and get the best fee possible for what is clearly a young talent full of potential.
