Charlton Athletic have confirmed that defensive midfielder Krystian Bielik is expected to miss Saturday's game against Bradford City at The Valley, after picking up an ankle injury during the international break.

The 21-year-old, who is on loan at the League One club from Arsenal, played 90 minutes for Poland Under-21s against England last week and suffered a minor ankle sprain while away with his country.

He is expected to miss the clash against the Bantams this weekend, but it is hoped he could return for the game against Plymouth Argyle on April 6.

Lee Bowyer's side are currently fifth in the League One table, but have a nine-point lead over seventh-placed Peterborough United with a game in hand and look set to finish the season in the play-off places.

The Addicks are unbeaten in their last seven matches and are looking to continue their momentum against Bradford, who are currently bottom of the table, six points from safety.

Bielik has made 27 appearances for Charlton in League One this season and has scored two goals.

The Verdict

Bielik is an important player for Charlton and has started 26 matches in League One this season.

He could be a big miss for the game against Bradford, but the injury isn't thought to be too serious and he should be back in time for the game against Plymouth next weekend.

He could have a big role to play in the coming weeks as the Addicks look to finish the season with promotion.
