Charlton Athletic, finished 13th in the 2016/2017 League One campaign, collecting 60 points along the way.

The 'Addicks' started the season under Russell Slade, but he only lasted until November, when the club decided to part company with him, as he was only able to guide Charlton to four league wins in his short tenure, following Slade's departure the club turned to his assistant manager Kevin Nugent until a permanent replacement could be found.

Nugent lasted just 11 days in the job, as the club appointed former MK Dons manager Karl Robinson as there permanent successor to Russell Slade.

Then 36-year-old, put pen to paper on a two and half year deal at The Valley, and has all the credentials to guide the 'Addicks' out of League One and to the Championship, as he has been there and done it before with MK Dons.

Looking ahead to next season, Robinson, has already started to bring in some of his own players, as the club have signed Bradford duo, Billy Clarke and Mark Marshall and also have bought in Reading midfielder Tariq Fosu.

Robinson will also have to bring in a goalkeeper this summer, as last season the club had Norwich shot stopper Declan Rudd on loan, but with Rudd returning to Norwich, Robinson, will have to bring in a fresh face for the next campaign.

With that in mind the club should turn there attentions to David Martin, a goalkeeper who has worked under Robinson before at MK Dons.

The 31-year-old, started his career at Wimbledon, before making the move to MK Dons in 2004, where he made a handful of appearances for the 'Dons'.

After a successful trial period with Premier League club Liverpool, the Merseyside outfit, decided to take sign Martin up, but after failing to make any first team appearances, he was loaned out on 5 occasions, before deciding to make the move back to Stadium MK in 2010.

Following a seven stint with MK Dons, Martin, decided to leave the club at the end of this campaign and is currently looking for a challenge.

With Karl Robinson currently without a shot stopper in his ranks and Martin available on a free transfer, Charlton should turn to the experienced goalkeeper ahead of the new season.
