Ruben Lameiras could be on his way to Charlton on a free transfer, according to the Plymouth Herald.
The Portuguese winger enjoyed two impressive years at Plymouth in League One, but looked likely to leave following their relegation.
The 24-year-old scored 18 goals in 82 appearances for The Pilgrims, prompting interest from Charlton, who seemingly believe he is ready for the Championship.
He is a possible replacement for talented youngster Joe Aribo, who could leave The Valley following interest from Aston Villa and Celtic.
Lameiras has never played above the third-tier but he is containing to improve. His 12 goals in a struggling Plymouth side last term is testament to that.
As is the supposed interest from the likes of Swansea, Cardiff and even Bordeaux. Charlton therefore may face a tough battle if they are to land the playmaker, who may prefer to stay in the south-west.
Charlton could be in need of a playmaker if Aribo leaves, and they could do a lot worse than Lameiras, who would be sorely missed by Plymouth fans.
Among many positives, Lameiras can play across midfield, he can beat a man and chips in with goals.
Speaking of which, his goal scoring record is improving year on year, and The Addicks could do with such a player if they are to continue their impressive form in the Championship.
It is a very low-risk transfer with no transfer fee involved, and, considering his age, if he does well next year Charlton could be in line for a decent sum by next summer.
