Charlton midfielder, Jonny Williams, has been praised after he put in a colossal performance against Leeds on Saturday.

It was actually the Leeds United boss himself who was able to come out and praise the Welsh midfielder.

Williams had an excellent display in the 1-0 win over the Whites on the weekend and he'll be hoping he can continue that form in what will be another tough match against a very good Swansea side in midweek.

Marcelo Bielsa pointed his individual performance out, and said that he was the playmaker in the side.

Speaking to Leeds Live, Bielsa said: "Number seven was the playmaker of the opponent. In their attack they had 14, 11 and 10 in the second half. They didn’t create one option. It’s difficult to judge individual performances as negative when they didn’t build attacking play."

Lee Bowyer has done an excellent job as manager at Charlton, and one of the issues that he's had to face is some of Williams' injury problems, but it's starting to come together well for the midfielder who has even been dropped by the Addicks boss on several occasions to ensure he doesn't break down.

The Verdict

Williams has been excellent during his time at Charlton, and you have to credit him for the way he comes back from injuries.

It's interesting to see what Bielsa said about him, and clearly pointed him out to his side, who were outdone by the Addicks' ability to be street smart in the game.

Williams was brilliant in the job that he did on Leeds' influential midfielder, Kalvin Phillips, and was able to stop him from dictating the play by sticking to the key player in the Whites side. This shows it's not just his flair that gets him attention.
