Charlton midfielder Jonny Williams has shared a relieved message following his return to first-team training after missing his side's last eight matches with injury.

Williams has been absent since sustaining a knee injury during Charlton's 3-0 win over Derby back in October, and Lee Bowyer's injury-hit side have not managed to win a league game since this success.

The Wales international midfielder has formed part of Charlton's injury crisis - which has seen more than 10 players sidelined with problems - but it now appears Williams is firmly on the road to recovery.

The 26-year-old has become a key player for the Addicks since joining the club last term, and Bowyer will now be desperate for the attacking midfielder's return after recently receiving a boost through Lyle Taylor's comeback.

Williams has now taken to Instagram to share the news that he is back in training with Charlton:

The former Crystal Palace midfielder made 12 appearances for the Addicks prior to his injury this campaign, while he has now made a total of 30 appearances for the club altogether following his contribution to their promotion last term.

The Verdict

Charlton's injury problems have severely affected the club's league form of late, so it should really give supporters a boost to see a player of Williams' quality finally back in training following a spell on the sidelines.

The Addicks have definitely missed his creativity and ball-carrying ability from midfield, but merely his return to first-team training should help raise the low level of morale around the training ground.

Bowyer will now be hoping that Williams is back available for action prior to the festive schedule, as the Charlton boss will surely be concerned about entering the busy period with a threadbare squad of available players.
