Johnnie Jackson has revealed his frustration at his team's performance despite coming away from the Keepmoat Stadium with three points against Doncaster.

Johnnie Jackson admitted his Charlton Athletic side should have been out of sight before having to endure a nervy ending to their 1-0 win at Doncaster Rovers.

Jayden Stockley’s second-half strike was enough to earn the Addicks their first away win since the end of January, in a game that should have been much more comfortable for the Addicks.

Washington had a penalty saved by Rovers stopper Jonathan Mitchell and was guilty, along with Stockley, of missing a number of big chances.

Speaking to London News Online, Jackson said of the performance: “We should have been out of sight in the game. From box to box it was a really good performance. There were some outstanding individual performances, but we missed a host of chances.

“You’ve got to be putting them away and on another day they do. It just seemed like one of those days where it wasn’t going to go for us. A penalty, that can happen, you can miss penalties. But there were other ones there that you have to score. On a different day they tuck them away comfortably."

The win means Charlton have won their last three games in a row, pulling themselves further away from the relegation zone and comfortably into midtable.

The Verdict

Jackson is right to be frustrated with his players. They gave Doncaster a chance to get something from the game and you cannot accept complacency at all.

His side were guilty of missing a number of chances, amassing 14 shots, with nine on target and forcing the opposition keeper into seven saves.

With the season all but over in terms of playoffs and relegation, Jackson will be hoping for big performances from his players so they can carry that momentum into next season.
