Charlton Athletic are looking to begin their attempts to secure a quick return to the Championship next season by poaching George Moncur from Colchester, report South London Today.
The former West Ham trainee looks likely to leave the U’s following their relegation to League Two after impressing despite their struggles.
He’s scored an impressive 12 goals for the Essex outfit and is entering the final 12 months of his deal, meaning it is likely the club will sell while they still can.
It is claimed the Addicks are prepared to shell out £150,000 to bring him back to South London, where he once had a loan spell with Wimbledon.
Goals have been hard to come by at the Valley this season, with promising forward Ademola Lookman reportedly a target for the likes of Tottenham and Liverpool this summer.
They are currently without a manger since the departure of Jose Riga, though have been granted permission to talk to Northampton coach Chris Wilder.
Would Moncur be a good signing? A remedy to the problems at the Valley?
