Charlton Athletic have reportedly joined the race to sign Robbie Gotts on loan from Leeds United in the final days of the transfer window, according to the Sun on Sunday (page 61.)

The Addicks will be looking to have a busy final few days in the market as Lee Bowyer looks to bolster his squad for the rest of the League One campaign.

Indeed, with Thomas Sandgaard now in place, they are able to make some deals happen and it looks as though they have an interest in Gotts.

The Northern Echo has reported previously that the likes of Sunderland and Swindon Town are interested in the player, too, and so there could be a bit of a battle on for the youngster's signature.

Lee Bowyer will be hoping, though, that his good relationship with his former club could well allow him to sign Gotts from United.

The Verdict

Leeds have got some fine young players but with them now in the Premier League, it seems natural that they are perhaps not going to be used as much as they were when the Whites were in the Championship.

That said, loan deals for some of them makes perfect sense and Bowyer is evidently eager to show that Gotts' next stage of development should happen at The Valley.
