Charlton hoping to bring back former Premier League defender

Sky Bet Championship side Charlton Athletic are looking to sign Roger Johnson in the January transfer window as they look to bolster their struggling squad, according to South London Today.

Johnson, a Premier League veteran with Wolves, Birmingham City and West Ham, was with the Addicks last season and despite impressing, was not offered a new contract at the end of the season.

After playing 14 times for Charlton last season, the 32-year-old moved to India and played for Pune City but he is now looking for a return to England, and a return to the Valley may appeal to him.

Karel Fraeye’s side have had a poor season so far and they find themselves in the relegation zone and much of that is due to their defensive problems.

They have conceded 41 goals in 24 league games and Fraeye needs some experience at the back if his side are to stay in the Championship.

Charlton fans…What do you make of the news? Would Johnson be a good signing? Did he impress you last season? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
