Former Stoke City defender Lewis Buxton is training with League One side Charlton Athletic, according to South London Press.
The 32-year-old defender spent last season with Sky Bet Championship side Rotherham United but he is now a free agent.
Buxton faced Charlton last season in the Championship during a campaign which saw the Addicks relegated into League One.
Charlton boss Russell Slade is looking to strengthen the side’s back four and Buxton could be a perfect fit due to his versatility. Throughout his career, he has played all along the back line which will prove even more useful due to emergency loans not being available.
The former Sheffield Wednesday defender would also add valuable experience to the side as he has over 350 professional appearances to his name, including League One experience.
It is very likely that Buxton will appear in pre-season friendlies for Charlton and if he is to impress then he could earn himself a contract at The Valley.
Charlton Athletic fans… Would you be happy with the addition of Buxton? Have your say in the comments!
