Charlton have been absolutely ravaged with injuries in recent months, and the Addicks will hope that things turn around as soon as possible.

The injuries have been so severe in recent weeks that manager Lee Bowyer could name just six substitutes for Tuesday night's defeat at Luton Town.

After what had been a simply brilliant start to the season, it has slowly gone downhill due to many of their star players picking up knocks and injuries that have kept them out for a number of games.

It all started with star striker Lyle Taylor, he was injured whilst on international duty with Montserrat and it was a huge blow for the Addicks. He'd began the season excellently in the Championship, and it was the first time Charlton fans started to get worried.

Jake Forster-Caskey, Jonny Williams, Chuks Aneke and Sam Field are just four of 11 senior players currently out with injury, and this crisis actually forced the Addicks to recall midfielder Albie Morgan from National League side Ebbsfleet United.

Supporters are beginning to fear the worst, and will hope players can begin to get back into their stride as soon as possible as they've slipped all the way down to 17th in the league table.

Concerns are showing and with Josh Cullen stretched off against Cardiff and Beram Kayal injured in the international, Charlton are really on their bare bones. As much as the Addicks will want these players back as quick as possible, they will have to be careful in order to avoid long-term struggles to any of the squad.

It is a rude awakening to the hard vigour of Championship football, but alongside that it's a problematic period especially with so many fixtures coming up over the next month.

Supporters have to stick by the squad during this run, and understand that there is only so much a manager can do with an injury depleted squad, especially having only been promoted last season.

On Saturday, the Addicks host a strong Sheffield Wednesday side and have a chance to get back to winning ways having failed to secure three points in any of their last six matches.
