Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer hasn't long got Charlton Athletic back up to the EFL Championship after three seasons away from the second tier, and is now being linked with a managerial move elsewhere.

The club that is rumored to be interested in the 42 year-old is rival Championship side Stoke City, with their manager Nathan Jones under increasing pressure further north. Bowyer has been in charge of Charlton since March 2018 after being placed in caretaker charge following the departure of Karl Robinson, and was appointed as permanent manager in September 2018. On a deal until the end of the season, Bowyer took Charlton to the Play-offs and earned promotion with a 2-1 victory over Sunderland at Wembley. That summer, Bowyer and the Charlton owners failed to come to an agreement over a contract before Bowyer did a u-turn and signed a new contract.

Meanwhile, Stoke City have had a torrid time under current manager Nathan Jones, winning just four in 33 since being appointed in January and currently sitting bottom of the Championship table with just two points from nine games.

Now, according to the Daily Mirror journalist James Nursey on Twitter, Charlton manager Bowyer has emerged as a strong contender for the role if Jones was to leave.

Charlton fans will be confident that the man who has led them back to the Championship won't depart for the side that's bottom of the table as Charlton currently sit in the Play-offs, however it will still concern them to see another side yet again seemingly sniffing around their man.

Stoke and Charlton have a similar size fanbase and both squads would appear to be pretty equal on paper, with Jones vastly underachieving with his Potteries side, and Bowyer could be the man to reignite the fire at the former Premier League club, with them boasting far great financial resources and a stabler scenario in the boardroom.

It may be a brief respite that Nursey is claiming that Chris Hughton and David Moyes are also linked but, even so, Charlton fans will still be watching Stoke's managerial situation very closely.
