Charlton Athletic will be making the trip to the Riverside Stadium this Saturday to face Middlesbrough, aiming to put an end to their six game run without a win.

The Addicks have slipped down the table to 17th place after their indifferent form and are seven points clear of Wigan Athletic in the final play-off place.

The positive news for Lee Bowyer and the Charlton fans however will be that Lyle Taylor will be back in contention to get some minutes, after over two months on the sidelines with a knee injury.

Bowyer confirmed to London News Online earlier this week that Taylor should be available against the Teeside club this Saturday, but the striker will not yet be ready to start the game.

Although it is likely to be a quick twenty minute cameo off the bench, Charlton fans will be delighted that Taylor will be stepping back on the pitch in a red and white shirt once again.

Since suffering the injury on international duty with Montserrat in early September, there has not been a set timescale on his return. This update will bring some clarity to the fans.

He was expected to return for the Addicks for the South London Derby against Millwall on November 9th, but suffered a further setback in his rehabilitation in training.

Taylor scored five league goals this season for Charlton prior to his injury, and last featured for the club in August. The upcoming match against Middlesbrough could end a run of thirteen league games without being available for his side.

In the time that Taylor has been out injured, Charlton have seen 12 further first-team players on the sidelines, and the Charlton fans will be grateful that at last numbers are starting to be made back up.

Chuks Aneke should also be available for the Addicks, and Jonny Williams is likely to be back for the Hull City fixture on Friday 13th December.

One thing that Charlton fans will be savouring is the prospect of Macauley Bonne and Lyle Taylor starting upfront as a striking partnership, if Lee Bowyer opts to scrap playing with a sole striker.
