Huddersfield are set to win the race for in-demand Charlton player Karlan Grant, with the forward undergoing a medical ahead of a move to the Premier League strugglers.

That's according to the Sky Sports Transfer Centre (14:16), which revealed that a £1.5m fee plus add-ons has been agreed between the two clubs.

It will be a major blow for the Addicks as Grant has been superb in League One this season, weighing in with 14 goals in 28 games.

Such form had not gone unnoticed, with Championship sides Brentford and Millwall also thought to have been monitoring the player.

However, the Terriers are in the driving seat and the 21-year-old could become the first signing of the Jan Siewert era.

The former Dortmund II coach was recently appointed as David Wagner's successor at the Yorkshire club and faces a huge challenge to keep them in the top-flight, with Huddersfield ten points from safety.

Providing the deal goes through as expected, Grant could be involved with his new squad for the first time this weekend as they travel to take on Chelsea.

The Verdict

This seems like a smart move from Huddersfield as they're poised to land a very highly-rated player who has a lot of potential.

Grant has been superb for Charlton this season and deserves a move higher up the leagues.

Whether he can make an immediate impact with his new club remains to be seen but you would expect him to be an important figure next season when realistically Huddersfield will be in the Championship.
