Charlton's squad is infused with youth and it is producing results.

During his time at Milton Keynes Dons, Robinson helped develop a number of hot prospects from the academy with Dele Alli being the pick of the bunch. He even managed to get the club promoted to the Championship before he was sacked after a disappointing season in which they were relegated.

Charlton's decision to hire him after they sacked Russell Slade was intelligent because they are similar to MK Dons in that they have a top academy filled with prospects waiting for a chance in the first-team.

Joe Gomez and Ademola Lookman are two of the more famous names to have graduated from the academy in the last few seasons. Gomez is a first-team player for Liverpool and Lookman is plying his trade with Bundesliga side RB Leipzig on loan from Everton, so they have clearly both found success since leaving The Valley.

Having a manager who is inclined to give first-team chances to these young players and help facilitate their development is beneficial for the long-term future of the club because they either financially benefit or these players successfully graduate to the first-team.

Ezri Konsa, Joe Aribo and Anfernee Dijksteel are some of the latest academy graduates that have been given minutes in the first-team. Between them, they have played a total of 3,431 league minutes this season. They complement well with other young players loaned from Premier League clubs such as Jay DaSilva, Sullay Kaikai and Stephy Mavididi.

The fact that Charlton are currently seventh suggests that this method is producing results and they have two games in hand on the two teams above them which could see them climb into the play-offs if they win either of those.

Robinson could lead another side inclined towards youth to the Championship, which is great to see.
