Charlton Athletic have announced the signing of FC Copenhagen striker Igor Vetokele through the club’s website and twitter page.

The 22-year old striker has joined Charlton on a five-year deal for an undisclosed fee from Danish giants FC Copenhagen.

The Angolan international helped fire his squad to second place in the Danish Superliga having scored 13 goals in 31 appearances this past season, finishing as the club’s top goalscorer.

The highly rated striker was subject to European interest. However, he has chosen a switch to Charlton as his preferred destination.

He has though already been replaced by the Danish side who signed Andreas Cornelius in January from Cardiff and a move was expected for Vetokele.

The move was agreed last week but a medical was delayed until today which he passed and sealed his switch to the Championship side.

He becomes new manager Bob Peeters’ second signing of the summer transfer window following the arrival of Yoni Buyens on loan from Belgian side Standard Liege.
