As per the Charlton Athletic Supporters’ Trust website, the organisation and Matt Southall has been involved in an exchange of emails this week with the latter floating the possibility of legal action against the CAST.
It’s been a tough few months for Charlton for various reasons and, whilst most clubs have had the sizeable task of trying to stay afloat during the current pandemic, the Addicks have had the added problem of a battle at boardroom level over who gets to run the club.
This particular issue relates to the CAST regularly posting a Q&A with Marian Mihail, in which criticism of Matt Southall is found.
For Southall, the claims that are made, and have been made, he alleges, are defamatory, unsubstantiated and factually untrue – he writes in his email.
CAST, meanwhile, has rejected such claims and has since asked Southall to drop the threat of legal action if the publications continue.

It’s a real mess, all will agree with that.
Whether you believe Southall, Nimer or neither, one thing needs to come out of it and that’s the long-term security of the football club.
CAST is doing what a supporters’ trust should and hopefully things can get resolved as quick as possible.
