Lyle Taylor has been much of the talk at Charlton Athletic this season.

The 30-year-old has been Charlton's standout performer over the past season-and-a-half. After netting 22 times in League One last season, he started this campaign brightly as well before injury struck.

He had guided Charlton to an unprecedented start to the Championship season but suffered a knee injury whilst on international duty with Montserrat, and missed a large part of the season before New Year.

He's since come back into the team and with 11 goals in 22 Championship appearances, he's averaging the same goals-to-game ratio as he did last year.

He posted this message on

/">his Instagram yesterday:

It's been two months since the last professional match in England. Fans and players alike have been waiting to find out how, or even if the domestic seasons will finish, and it's taking its toll on many.

Taylor has been active on social media throughout the season, and has been the talk of ongoing transfer rumours too - his Charlton contract is up at the end of the season, and several clubs have shown a previous interest in the striker.

Despite his future seemingly lying elsewhere, he's remained a firm favourite amongst Charlton fans, who would love to see him sign a new deal with the club - that however, seems unlikely.

The verdict

Taylor has proven his Championship ability this season despite missing parts through injury. His absence showed just how important he is to this Charlton side, but he may well have already played his last game for the club.
