Kent Live have reported that League 1 outfit Charlton Athletic are weighing up a move for Scott Golbourne, from Championship side Bristol City.

The report states that Addicks boss Karl Robinson is very much on the hunt for a left back, with a loan move for Chelsea youngster Jay Dasilva also a possibility.

Dasilva, who was part of the England squad who secured victory in the final of the UEFA Under 19 European Championship with a 2-1 win over Portugal on Saturday, is joined on Robinson's shortlist by the more experienced Golbourne.

Golbourne returned to Bristol City, the club with whom he began his career, in the middle of the 2015/16 campaign. He made 24 appearances across all competitions last season, netting once, for Lee Johnson's men.

The 29-year-old's career has seen him make 373 career appearances, across spells for Reading, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Exeter City and Barnsley.

In that time, he has netted seven times and laid on 35 assists, and can boast youth international and even a small taste of Premier League experience to his name.

Back in his younger days, Golbourne made over 20 appearances combined for England's Under 17 and Under 19 teams, while his sole Premier League match came in his Reading days, during a 3-0 defeat to Bolton Wanderers in 2007.

It appears as if Robinson is faced with a choice between youth and experience as he seeks to reinforce his Charlton backline, in order to make a promotion push in his first full season in the hotseat at the Valley.
