Charlton Athletic strikers Jayden Stockley, Chuks Aneke and Conor Washington all look set to miss their side's clash with Oxford United on Saturday, manager Johnnie Jackson has confirmed.

Stockley has not featured for the Addicks since December due to a hip problem, but remains the club's top scorer this season with 14 goals across all competitions.

Washington meanwhile has found the net on nine occasions since the start of the campaign, while Aneke has scored twice since returning to the club from Birmingham in the January transfer window.

Like Stockley, both Washington and Aneke were absent from Charlton's matchday squad for their 2-1 defeat at Wigan Athletic on Saturday afternoon, and it seems the club may have to do without them again this weekend.

Providing an update on the trio ahead of that game, Charlton boss Jackson told the South London Press: “It is unlikely we’ll have any of the lads who were missing from the game at Wigan back available."

Having lost their last two league games, Charlton go into that clash with Oxford 14th in the League One table, 14 points adrift of the play-off places, and nine clear of the relegation zone.

The Verdict

This update will be rather frustrating from a Charlton perspective you feel.

With Stockley, Washington and Aneke all out, the Addicks are going to be missing a significant amount of firepower for this clash with Oxford on Saturday.

Given the goals those three can provide the team could have a big impact, both on Saturday and for the rest of the season, you feel Charlton will want that trio back quickly, to give them a chance of finishing the campaign strongly.

Indeed, it will be intriguing to see if Jackson continues with young Mason Burstow at centre forward in the absence of those other attacking options, something which could at least be a useful experience for the youngster moving forward.
