Things are looking much brighter at Charlton Athletic than they were a month or so ago, with Johnnie Jackson's tenure as interim boss bringing the good times back to the Valley.

The Addicks have taken 10 points from their last four League One games, which has helped them climb up to 17th in the table.

The January window is now a little more than six weeks away and supporters will likely be hoping to see owner Thomas Sandgaard stick his hands in his pockets again to back whoever's in charge – though that's looking increasingly like to be Jackson.

Ahead of the winter window, we've identified some Charlton transfer talking points...

A return for Gillingham defender Jack Tucker

21-year-old Gillingham centre-back Jack Tucker was a player on Charlton's radar in the summer, as per The Sun on Sunday (29/08: p60).

The defender remained with the Gills beyond the end of the previous window but his deal with the club is set to expire in June 2022, meaning he could be available for a cut-price in January.

With the likes of Ryan Inniss and Sam Lavelle struggling with injury issues, the Addicks may consider returning for Tucker at the turn of the year.

Premier League bids for Deji Elerewe

According to All Nigerian Soccer, 18-year-old defender Deji Elerewe has drawn interest from Premier League trio Chelsea, Manchester United, and West Ham United.

Those clubs may well feel that January is the right time to try and prize him away from the Valley as he's yet to really establish himself at senior level.

It may be that the Addicks have to respond to a few offers from Premier League outfits in the upcoming window.

Money to spend for Jackson?

It's looking increasingly likely that Jackson will become Charlton's next permanent manager and if he is appointed, the 39-year-old will likely want to look to shape the squad to fit his ideology.

There's a long way to go in the 2021/22 campaign and if the Addicks continue their recent form, there's no reason why they can't launch a late-season play-off push.

With that in mind, Sandgaard may be keen to back the new manager in the January window with hopes it will help the south London club return to the Championship.
