Charlton Athletic will be keen to bolster their ranks in the remaining few weeks of the transfer window, as they look to build on Saturday's goalless draw with Sheffield Wednesday.

The Addicks were impressive in patches particularly in the second period, with Albie Morgan a threat from midfield and frontman Jayden Stockley proving a handful for the Owls' backline.

As the club look to go one better than when they narrowly missed out on the play-offs last term, Nigel Adkins will be intent on dipping into the transfer market to supplement his threadbare second string. With that in mind we are taking a look at the latest rumours around the club...

Charlie Kirk rumour intensifies

Adkins confirmed the club's interest in the Crewe Alexandra winger in an interview with the South London Press at the weekend. Kirk was absent from the matchday squad as the Alex drew with Cheltenham Town, increasing the speculation around his future.

Charlton are one of a number of clubs interested in acquiring his signature.

Cover needed

Back-up goalkeeper Ashley Maynard-Brewer joined Ross County on a season-long loan last week, leaving youngster Nathan Harness as the second choice for Saturday's match.

A more senior backup is needed to provide competition for places with Craig MacGillivray, 33-year-old former Addick Stephen Henderson is a free agent following his release from Crystal Palace this summer. The Irishman could be a smart addition in SE7.

Makeshift left back

Due to an injury to Ben Purrington, experienced right-back Chris Gunter deputised at left-back at the weekend as he also did in the closing exchanges of pre-season. The 102 time Wales international is a decent stop gap in that role but a specialist left sider would enhance Charlton's options in an attacking sense and offer some competition for places when Purrington returns.

It will be interesting to see who Adkins chooses to play at left-back in the club's League Cup first round tie against AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday.
