Charlton suffered their first defeat of the League One season at the weekend as Doncaster Rovers ran out 3-1 winners at The Valley.

Supporters were invited back to SE7 at the weekend as the match was designated as one of the test events for getting fans back in their droves but, unfortunately for them, they witnessed a defeat.

That's one win and one loss from their opening two games, then, and Lee Bowyer will be looking to add to his side where he can in the coming weeks, though it's obviously not going to be easy given where things are right now.

Here, we look at some of the latest stories doing the rounds...

Tyreece John-Jules missed

Tyreece John-Jules scored for Rovers at the weekend against Charlton and Lee Bowyer revealed that he was a striker the Addicks were looking at but their embargo prevented them from getting a deal done.

The manager said:

“He was the one we thought we would’ve got but we were under the embargo."

Celtic slammed for 'silly offers'

Celtic's interest in Alfie Doughty has been no secret this transfer window but they have time and again been turned away by Charlton with their offers.

Indeed, it appears the Hoops are well away from where the Addicks value the player, with Lee Bowyer fairly blunt in his appraisal of recent bids.

He said:

“People are taking liberties with their offers. They are silly offers which we wouldn’t entertain.

"Whatever the offer was [by Celtic] it’s not enough. That’s all that matters. It doesn’t matter if they’d offered £1m if we’ve said no and value him at more than that.”

Bowyer cuts similar figure on Bonne

For Doughty, now read Bonne.

He too has been subject of interest in this transfer window and Bowyer has once again said that no offers have come anywhere near the sort of figure they would be willing to accept right now.

He went on further to say:

“For us as a club, why would we sell Macauley now? Unless it was some crazy offer then we wouldn’t sell Macauley. It would be tough to replace him. So it doesn’t make sense."
