Charlton defender Deji Oshilaja is facing a number of weeks on the sidelines through injury - with Addicks boss Lee Bowyer admitted that he "isn't in a good place".

Oshilaja has been ever-present in Charlton's opening five matches back in League One, but will face an extended period of time out, although Bowyer couldn't give a specific time-scale.

It's another major blow for the Charlton manager, whose already without centre-back and captain Jason Pearce, who hasn't featured since the final day defeat to Leeds United last term.

Meanwhile, midfielder Alex Gilbey hasn't been involved since last months home defeat to Doncaster after suffering an injury in training.

Charlton have made a poor start to the campaign and will be looking to record just their second League One victory of the season when they host Wigan on Saturday, but will definitely be without defender Oshilaja.

What club did Charlton Athletic sign each of these 14 players on loan from?

Bowyer told South London Press: "Deji has been out since the weekend. He has done something to the bottom of his foot.

"He's hurt his foot and he's not really in a good place, if I'm honest. The physio says he doesn't want to put a time frame on it.

"Deji ain't going to be available for the weekend."

The Verdict

It feels like Charlton always have a long injury list.

There were periods during last season when Bowyer wasn't even able to put seven substitutes on the bench, such were his injury problems - and the early of signs of this season are similar.

The Addicks might have kept a clean sheet against promotion-chasing Sunderland in their previous match, but have produced just two shut-outs in their opening eight matches in all competitions and need everyone fit and firing - including someone as important as Oshilaja.
