Charlton Athletic are in talks to sign former Newcastle, Sheffield Wednesday, and Derby striker, Leon Best, according to a report in the Derby Telegraph.
The Addicks have had the 31-year-old striker on trial over the past few weeks, and it appears Best has impressed enough to warrant a deal at the Valley, with talks now underway for the striker to seal a move to the London club.
Best has a reputation as an excellent goalscorer when given a run of first team football and has notched goals in both the Premier League and at Championship level over a glittering career which has seen him move clubs on plenty of occasions.
However, he has been without a club since being released by Ipswich Town at the end of the last campaign, and now a move to the Valley could give Best the chance to kick some life into his career as he enters the final few years of his career playing top level football.
Best’s most prominenet spell came at Coventry City, but he also impressed for Newcastle, bagging himself a top flight hat trick along the way.
Charlton fans, what do you make of this signing? Good deal? Let us know in the comments!
