According to a News Shopper report, Charlton have had a bid rejected for Colchester United’s highly sought after, George Moncur.
The two sides have both suffered relegations with Charlton from the Championship to League One and Colchester from League One to League Two.
As Charlton prepare to attempt to regain their Championship status, one player they felt that could help in that difficult challenge is George Moncur.
Although Colchester United had a nightmare season, one of the few positives has been the consistent performances of George Moncur.
The former West Ham midfielder has been the stand out performer for Colchester all season contributing with 14 goals. This is particularly impressive considering how Moncur managed to complete this difficult feat in a struggling team.
The 22-year-old has been attracting attention from a number of League One teams with Barnsley and Peterborough also interested in signing Moncur.
However, the news has been released that it is Charlton that has made an official bid for the midfielder, the figure is around £150,000 however Colchester are holding out for at least £500,000 for the midfielder.
Whether or not Charlton are willing to pay that much is yet to be seen.
