Charlton are looking to make a move for Fulham defender Jack Grimmer, according to HITC Sport sources.

The 22-year-old defender joined the Cottagers in 2012, but has failed to hold down a regular place in the team, spending last season on loan with Shrewsbury Town.

Grimmer can play across the back four, including both full  back positions, and Charlton manager Russell Slade clearly sees him as someone who can bring some much needed quality and versatility to his squad.

He made the move from Aberdeen after impressing for the Dons, but since his move to England he has not lived up to expectation, often struggling to make the cut at Championship level.

However, his performances at Shrewsbury last term impressed many, including Addicks manager Russell Slade, who now seems interested in adding Grimmer to his promotion chasing squad.

Charlton got their season underway with a defeat at the weekend, and were knock out of the EFL Cup last night by Cheltenham Town in what has been a poor start to life at the Valley for Slade.

Charlton fans, what do we think? Good signing? Is a defender needed? Let us know in the comments!
