Lee Bowyer has revealed that it is likely that Albie Morgan will head out on loan once again for the remainder of the season, according to London News Online.

The 20-year-old midfielder spent a month at National League side Ebbsfleet United during the first half of the season, where he went on to make five league appearances for the North Kent side.

He was then recalled by Charlton in November due to scale of the club's injury crisis, and went on to be regular figure in the midfield over the last three months, making twelve league appearances for the Addicks.

However, with Josh Cullen, Sam Field and Jonny Williams all returning from injury, and the midfield duo of Matt Smith and David Davis recently joining the club, Morgan now may find it a challenge to get back into the Addicks side.

Speaking to London News Online, the Charlton boss has said Morgan will most likely join another National League club on loan to aid his development.

“Albie needs to go and play some games,” Bowyer said.

“He needs to get his fitness up and learn the game."

Bowyer also added that the club could also send out Ben Dempsey on loan, with Josh Davison also being looked at for a temporary switch.

“Ben Dempsey, maybe it would be good for him to go and play as well. I’ll look at the ones who are in and around us," he said.

“It is better than under-23 football. We’d like to get a couple out. I don’t think it would be a bad thing for Josh Davison, but we’ve got to evaluate the striker situation at our place."

Alfie Doughty is likely to stay at the club and fight for his place, after impressing this season.

The Verdict

This seems like a sensible decision for all parties, but Lee Bowyer has to be prepared for another potential injury crisis at all times, which may rule out a season-long loan arrangement.

Morgan, 20, has impressed when he has filled in at central midfield and on the wing for the Addicks, registering two assists this term.

It has yet to be discussed which clubs would consider going in for Morgan at this stage.
