Charlton boss Lee Bowyer has been heavily linked with a move to QPR in the last 24 hours in the wake of Steve McClaren's sacking.

Sky Sports reported that the former Leeds United midfielder would be keen on a move to Loftus Road, but hasn't been contacted by the Hoops yet.

If he were to go it would leave a void at the Valley, but a report in The Sun suggests they're also lining up a replacement, former Newcastle man Lee Clark.

Clark has been out of work since leaving Bury 18 months ago, but the 46-year-old is thought to be considering a number of coaching offers, meaning the Addicks would have to work quickly if Bowyer were to leave.

He has plenty of experience in the dugout, having managed Huddersfield, Birmingham, Blackpool and Kilmarnock, taking the latter to the play-offs in the Scottish Championship in 2016.

His spell at Gigg Lane was a disaster though, with just nine wins in 33 matches. He left Bury second from bottom in League One, a position they failed to recover from and were ultimately relegated into League Two.

The Verdict

This wouldn't be a popular move at all. Clark hasn't been a success in the dugout for a while and his spell at Bury was terrible.

Charlton fans will surely see this as a huge step back after the promise Bowyer and his side have shown this season.

These are worrying times once more at the Valley.
