Charlton Athletic are set to be without centre-back both Ryan Inniss and striker Ronnie Schwartz for the next two months due to injury, according to London News Online

Inniss has been plagued with injury issues since joining the Addicks last summer but is among Nigel Adkins' finest defensive options when fit.

He has not featured since the 28th of August while Schwartz's last appearance for the south London club came back in March but it seems supporters are going to have to wait a little while longer to see either in a Charlton shirt.

Speaking to London News Online, Adkins confirmed that both were set for an extended spell on the sidelines.

He said: "Ryan Inniss is going to be out for a couple of months, at least, with a thigh injury.

"And Ronnie Schwartz is going to be out for a couple of months with a calf injury.”

It is not all bad news for the League One side, however, as Alex Gilbey, Ben Purrington, and Sean Clare have all returned to training.

Charlton have made a slow start to the 2021/22 campaign and now face a tough test away at Wycombe on the weekend, with the Chairboys having won both of their games at home this term.

The Verdict

While Schwartz has struggled to really impose himself under Adkins, losing Inniss is certainly a blow for Charlton.

The Addicks haven't really got going yet this term and the return of the centre-back could've helped shore them up defensively.

He's proven himself such a useful centre-back when fit but his injury struggles have meant he's not been able to contribute as much as he would have wanted to.

Hopefully, he can return to full fitness in December and play a key role for Charlton.
