Charlton head coach Lee Bowyer has confirmed that the Addicks have rejected two bids for Patrick Bauer this summer, and the defender will not be leaving.

According to London News Online, Charlton have received bids from Bolton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers for the 25-year-old, both of which were turned down.

Bowyer stated: “Pat is not going. The owner told Blackburn and Bolton what he wants for Pat and they are not going to pay what we are asking.

“Pat knows that. Pat has been offered a new deal and he is thinking about that at the moment. Bolton tried to take him as well after Josh. They made a deal with Josh and tried to do it with Pat as well.

“But on Saturday I had an email from the owner saying that Pat is staying. He said that Pat is a massive part of our defence and we need to keep him because he improves our chances of promotion.

“I’m over the moon about it. By keeping Pat he is showing what he wants from us this season.”

The German defender has one year left on his contract at The Valley and has received a lot of interest this summer.

The Verdict

Keeping hold of Patrick Bauer this summer could have a massive positive impact for Charlton as they approach the new season.

Having played 37 times in all competitions last season for the Addicks, losing such an important figure at the back could have bad consequences for Lee Bowyers team.

If they can secure the German on a new contract at The Valley, it will not strengthen the team, but also give the fans something to celebrate before the start of the new season.
