Bessat is said to be in advanced talks with Championship outfit Charlton Athletic, but now the Trotters and French side Lorient are after the 29-year-old.

The Nantes winger is out of contract next month but an extension on his current deal does remain a possibility for the Ligue 1 side to take.

The Frenchman has been a regular fixture in the first-team this season, making 27 Ligue 1 appearances, and his performances have helped the club maintain their top-flight status for another year.

The Addicks finished 12th in the Sky Bet Championship, 18 points adrift of the play-off positions, and the club are desperate to add some more players to their squad in order to make a charge for promotion next term.

Whilst Bolton are looking to improve on their 18th placed finish, 10 points above the relegation zone and manager Neil Lennon has started to rebuild his side with releasing senior players, Matt Mills, Craig Davies, Andrew Lonergan, Jermaine Beckford and Keith Andrews.
