Charlton Athletic agree deal for League One strike ace

Charlton Athletic are on the verge of signing Swindon Town star Nicky Ajose, according to BBC Sport.

Ajose was in lethal form last season, as he bagged 25 goals in a struggling Swindon side to further enhance his reputation as one of the leading strikers outside the top two divisions.

The pacey front man has enjoyed spells at Peterborough and Leeds United, as well as numerous loan spells, after coming through the famed Manchester United youth set up.

It is believed a fee in the region of £800k has been agreed for Ajose, making it the Addicks’ second attacking signing in two days, following the capture of Ricky Holmes from Northampton.

It is a statement of intent from new manager Russell Slade and his owners that they do not intend on sitting around in League One for too long following relegation from the Championship last season.

The Addicks are no strangers to life in League One, and romped to the title 5 seasons ago when they beat both Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United to the punch in a thrilling season.

Addicks fans, what do you think to this signing? Good news? Who else do you think the club should look to be bring in? Let us know in the comments!!
