Charlton Athletic midfielder Jonny Williams has issued an encouraging update as he continues his recovery from the injury he suffered back in October.

Williams has now been unavailable for Charlton's last five Championship matches after suffering the knee injury during his side's 3-0 victory over Derby, and the Addicks have not managed to win a game in the midfielder's absence.

The initial diagnosis of Williams' problem indicated he would be out of action for two months as he joined Charlton's long list of absentees, but the 26-year-old has now shared an update which suggest his recovery is well on track.

Williams took to Instagram to share an image of him wearing football boots, as he appears to have made his return to the training pitch just over a month into his rehabilitation process.

Williams has been an important figure for the Addicks since he first joined the club in January 2019, and he featured in all 12 of Charlton's league matches this season before suffering his injury.

The Verdict

You only need to look at Charlton's recent results to detect the fact they have been missing Williams of late, in addition to the club's other absentees including the likes of Lyle Taylor and Sam Field.

Williams has become an integral figure in Charlton's attacking play over time, while he has also re-established himself in the Wales international set-up of late, and he will now be desperate to recover from injury and continue his good form.

This latest update suggests he is pretty much on track with his recovery as he targets a return to action over the festive period, and the return of himself and the club's injured players will surely give them a boost around this time.
